Welcome to Caroline Rance Upholstery

This chair was a bargain I found in a house clearance shop. The frame was in perfect condition, but the seat needed attention. I stripped the chair right back to it's frame, re-webbed and re-stuffed it with the original horsehair. The sides of the chair were strengthened with a wall of stitches and given a rolled edge. It was recovered in a smart striped fabric and trimmed with double piping in the same fabric. It now brings my bathroom alive by adding an accent colour to the neutral décor.

Whether you have a piece of furniture that's a family heirloom, or a bargain you rescued from a junk shop, it can be given a new lease of life by re-upholstering it, turning it back into something that is not only useable, but looks stunning.

It’s amazing how a chair or stool can be totally transformed by recovering it in a new top fabric and adding some beautiful trimming.  With just a bit of imagination you can create a unique piece of furniture that will be become a real talking point and definatly won’t be found on the high street.

I hope that this website will inspire you to look at what you already have and give you some ideas about how you could re-vamp it. You'll be doing your bit for the environment too, as re-upholstery is of course, the environmentally friendly way to update your furnishings.
